My Birthday!

My Birthday is in 9 days 13 hours and 30 minutes ! I am soooo excited. Its on March 17 (St. Patricks Day). So since it's on that holiday when i was little I would  always tell people that I was Irish :)

Talent Show!

So most of you know I enjoy performing right? Well guess what?! I have two performances coming up. One of my performances is a talent show at my school. The auditions are March 13th. But the MOST important, and nerevwrecking performance is the talent show/search that is city wide. I entered this talent search compeitition, and my audition is on Saturday. The talent search is going on at the year round festival, Rivers & Spires. Rivers & Spires is pretty much a festival,with music,food, activities, & much more. But anyway, I am SO excited and nervous. Out of thousands of people only 25-30 people get picked! So that means my chances are very slim. . . So wish me luck!!

My Mom & My sister

Some of the MOST important people in my life is my mom and my sister.My mom is my inspiration.My sister is my rock. Without them I don't know how I could survive. We have shared many laughs. Many tears. Many memories. My mom(Tonya) is a very independent strong beautiful woman that I love to death. Well as for my sister (Krystal) she is talented, trustworthy, and beautiful, and because i love them  so much i wrote a poem.

   You are my sister, my rock, my true bestfriend

  The memories we have shared I will cherish until the end

The laughs, the fun the times we get to spend.

Even though we may fight I will always be here

I am always by your side whether your far or near

In the future we may go our seperate ways

The Golden Rule

I am currently researching the Holocaust, and it amazes me at how people can be so cruel! As well as the things human beings had to go through. So that brings me to this subject today.... The Golden Rule. Everyone has heard of the "Golden Rule" right? The rule is to treat people the way you want to be treated. Now some may say hows is it golden? Well it is golden because if you treat someone with disrespect, anger or by being rude, you will get it in return. It may not be by that particular person but later in life it will come back to you. But if you treat a person with respect you should get it in return. In some situations it may be hard to treat them with respect or kindness, but you have to remember Treat people the way you want to be treated.

School Uniforms. . .

Okay, I am currently writing a research paper on Injustices in middle/high schools. The injustice I picked was dress code/uniforms in school. In some schools dress codes are so strict! I remember last year they had a rule where you couldn't wear colorful socks. Come on now ! That's the fashion. What if one day I'm running late and I don't have time to find the other match? But anyway, some schools have school uniforms, while the other schools have a dress code. In my opinion a dress code is just a little way of having uniforms without having uniforms. (did that make sense?) Now sometimes the school without the uniforms are even more strict than the schools with them.
                                            Pros of having a uniform:
- Studies show academics increase, (students are more focused)
- Bad behaviors decrease
- Social Outcomes improve
-Teaches discipline
-Helps prevent gangs
- Stops peer pressure
- Improves attendance of students
-Limits fighting

                                         Cons of having a Uniform
-Hinders creativity
-Has little influence
-Individuality is taken
-Comfort is gone
-Self expression is taken away

                    In my opinion there are some perks to having a school uniform. Such as being equal and not having to worry what to wear to school the next day. Also you don't really seem to have the social classes like: The jocks or The nerds. The biggest thing about uniforms is the lack of creativity and individuality given to the students. Yeah, there is a lack of creativity and self expression because it feels like you are like everyone else. But overall I don't think they have a huge impact on how students act. I don't think they have an affect on academics either. What's the difference between a student taking a test in blue jeans and a T-shirt than, another student in khaki pants? No difference right? Some studies show that bullying behaviors stop at the school. Well maybe at THAT school, but the other students at other schools can bully them about having to wear uniforms. Just like in ALL schools there is always drama. So even with uniforms there can possibly still be drama that turns into fights.  Now I'm not saying I am against uniforms or for them, but i don't think clothes have an effect on students and their behavior.

Push or Pull?

Now, see I am positively sure that everyone has encountered a "door issue". An example might be running into one. But the issue I have with doors are the signs. . . Most doors tell you whether to push or to pull right? Well in my case I judge the door (without reading the sign) and take an action depending on my judgement. I will pull with all my might! To find my self struggling. Then I finally read the sign and it obviously says PUSH! The things humans do. . . Even though there is a sign I seem to always overlook it.

G I A N T S ! !

Giants won the superbowl! They played a great game. The score was 21 to 17. Looks like the New York Giants are going to Disney world next! But next season my Steelers need to step it up. (I guess you can say I am a Giants fan now!) Oh and good job Patriots. . . maybe next year. And another thing you know how they have "Superbowl Commercials"? I didn't see any that i really enjoyed. That is the best part, along with the actual game. What's up with that? Oh well good game. Comment your thoughts on the game. (by the way I love it when football players celebrate when the make it to the endzone!)
